Shelby (1990-2003)
On April
1, 1990, a very shy little beagle mix from the SPCA, St.
John's, came into our lives and won our hearts
forever. We named her Shelby and for the next 13 years, she
was our constant and ever-loving companion. When illness
took her from us on April 11, 2003 we lost a part of our
family. We miss "our little girl" and remember her with
fondness every time we look into the gentle, loving eyes of a
beagle.
Thank you Beagle Paws
for helping others find the unconditional love and affection of these
wonderful family pets.

John's, NL

Curlymoe (“Curly”) (1991 – 2000)
was a German Sheppard/Labrador mix and quite the baby. I can
still remember to day mom and dad brought Curlymoe home. It was
Regatta day in 1991; I was out in the backyard and once I saw him, I
fell in love. We bonded that day, as Curly, as we often called
him, fell asleep on me and snuggled into my neck; I knew then we had a
special bond. From that day on, we were the best of friends and
did everything together, until the day he left this world. One of
the things I remember most is how he loved to play “Mr. Sock” and
cuddle up with Storm, our other dog. I miss him deeply and he
will always have a special place in my heart, as he was my first baby.
Storm (“Stormy”) (1993 – 2003)
was a Husky/German Sheppard mix and she was very special to me and my
family (especially my sister, which originally owned her). Once
Storm and my sister moved back home, Storm became very close to our
family and our dog, Curlymoe. Storm and Curly became best of
friends and no matter where one of them was the other was right
behind. Storm loved going for walks and cuddling up on the couch
next to Curly or myself in the evening. Once Curly died, a piece
of Storm died with him. She took his death very hard and that was
when she became close to me. I miss her deeply and she will
always have a special place in my heart.

Brandy(1991-2003)
I Loved you Best
So this is where we
part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but
not from mind,
new pleasures there
you'll surely find.
I will go on, I'll
find the strength,
life measures quality,
not its length.
One long embrace
before you leave,
share one last look,
before I grieve.
There are others, that
much is true,
but they be they, and
they
aren't you.
And I, fair,
impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all
you've taught.
Your place I'll hold,
you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the
nose I kissed.
And as you journey to
your final rest,
take with you this...I
loved you best.

in Heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went."

(1987-2003) Shiner, Golden
Labrador Retriever
I often find myself comparing him to the story of "Old Yeller". He was
the most loyal dog you could ever find. No matter where you went Shiner
was always there beside you. As he got older he may have been trailing
further
behind but you always knew he was there. Shiner first joined our family
at the age of six. As soon as Mom brought him home from the SPCA
everyone knew
he was meant to be our dog. He loved the farm life we had and adapted
to it like he was
born there. It's been about a month since he finally rested... I miss
him like crazy... I'm sure he's following around an angel as I speak.
Shiner will always be in my heart. Forever. Love you Shiner.
To anyone out there doubtful about adopting from the SPCA or the Pound;
I have had three dogs, two of those from the
SPCA. They don't need to be puppies to fulfill your life.
"Animals will always be as good as you treat them. Don't EVER
forget
that."

Booker
(1989-2003)
Our big boy Booker came into our lives when I was only 4, but I still
remember his big puppy paws clumping all over the kitchen floor. He
didn't realize how big and strong he actually was, and would often
barrel into buckets of water and furniture at full speed, not realizing
what a mess he was about to make! He very quickly became my dad's most
loyal friend.
Wherever my dad went, Booker was close behind him. When my dad went to
work
out-of-province, Booker was the one who slept next to his bed every
night, making sure my dad was safe and keeping him company. I often
watched Booker when my dad would approach him, and he would bow his
head to my dad in loyalty. He listened to my dad's every word with
respect and obedience.
When Booker started to get older, he began having hip joint problems
because of his large size. Some days he found it hard to walk, and this
was heartbreaking for all of us, most of all my dad. Finally, on
January 23, 2003, when Booker was 13 years old, my dad tried to get him
to jump out of his van, but he just couldn't walk anymore. My dad
couldn't bear to see his
boy suffer like this, so he made the decision that day to let him go
and pass onto heaven, where he would be free to run all day long. It
broke my dad's heart to have to watch him go, but we all knew that he
would be happier in heaven.
Booker was a good boy, who took very good care of his little sister
Princess Baby Boomer on earth. We know he is taking extra good care of
her now in heaven, because she went to join him in August of 2005. We
took comfort in knowing he was waiting for her when she crossed over
the Rainbow Bridge.
We love you Booker, and are looking forward to the day when we will see
you again.
Love,
Your dad Gary, mom
Joan, human sister Katie, doggy sister Daisy, and doggy niece Maggie
